Outsourcing does not necessarily mean hiring on permanent staff. It can mean bringing in someone to work as an independent contractor. For example, if you are selling at a major craft show and need to create a huge amount of inventory, you may consider bringing in a production assistant for a fixed time period to work on some of the simpler aspects of creating your pieces. Or, you may consider outsourcing tasks that are necessary, but outside your area of expertise, such as bookkeeping.
